Sheraton is set to open Sheraton Macao, Starwood's largest hotel.

(China's Macao) — With the inauguration of 20 new properties in 2012, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. declared that its Sheraton Hotels brand will be a vital factor in the company's expansion. Sheraton will also help Starwood maintain its position as the world's largest hotel company in China, with 12 new Sheraton hotels set to open by the end of the year in this fast-growing market, driven by high demand in second- and third-tier cities.

The upcoming launch of the almost 4,000-room Sheraton Macao, which will be the largest Sheraton and the largest Starwood hotel in the world, is one of the most exciting new Sheraton Hotel projects. Sheraton Macao is a much-anticipated addition to the Cotai Strip, widely known as Asia's Las Vegas, featuring three restaurants and poolside cafes, 140,000 square feet of conference space, and two outdoor swimming pools. villa qatar

Sheraton expects to expand its portfolio in North America and Europe by capturing more than its fair share of conversion prospects.

"Sheraton's impressive worldwide pipeline is powered by tremendous demand in China and India, as well as a spike in high-quality conversions in established countries," said Simon Turner, Starwood's President of Global Development. "There's a big landscape of independent hotels ripe for rebranding throughout Europe, and we're also keeping a close eye on a predicted increase in portfolio transaction activity in North America, which should lead to even more conversion chances."

Sheraton plans to open 12 additional hotels in China in 2012, bringing the total number of Sheraton hotels in China to approximately 80 by 2015. Sheraton will be the flag of over 40% of all planned Starwood hotels in China, building on the brand's 30-year history in this fast-growing region. Starwood is also getting closer to its target of opening its 100th hotel in China later this year, thanks to the tremendous expansion of the Sheraton brand.

Hoyt Harper, Global Brand Leader for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, said, "Sheraton has successfully used its first-mover advantage in China, where we have more hotels in development than any other Starwood brand." "In the meantime, Sheraton is extending Starwood's position as India's largest five-star hotel operator. We're also reaping the benefits of our multibillion-dollar investment in the Sheraton brand over the last few years, which has resulted in new highs in guest satisfaction and fantastic global expansion.
